Pack up the family and take a bite out of the Gravenstein Apple Fair!
This year’s theme is “In Praise of Pollinators”, celebrating the bees that pollinate Gravenstein apples and much of our food supply. Families can learn from bee experts what we can all do to help pollinators thrive. Get an up close view at the work that goes on inside the beehives and how honey is made.
Besides the Kid’s Area, a shaded space for hands-on arts & crafts, there are games for kids of all ages. Don’t miss the pie eating contest and apple juggling. Kids will love the tractor pedal pull game with the Young Farmers & Ranchers, the educational honeybee game with Sonoma County Beekeeper Association, and the insect exhibit with SSU Biodiversity Outreach. Plus, kids can test their skills at the hula hoop wagon and hay maze.
Live entertainment includes singalongs, a kid’s circus show, and beeeeeautiful roaming performers that will delight the little ones.
Children will love “unplugged” activities like puppet shows and cowboy storytelling. They’ll learn about life on the farm, meet the animals, and see how to milk a cow or shear a sheep.
Families will enjoy taking a trip back in time with the Old Engines, the Blacksmith “workshop”, and taking a horse-drawn carriage ride (additional cost). And speed up to the future, and take a ride on an electric wheelbarrow.
We also have several vendor booths that cater specifically to children.
The “sweetest little fair in Sonoma County” truly has something for everyone, young and old! Check out the 2017 schedule now.
