Gravenstein Apple Fair 2010 – What’s it all about?
This year the Gravenstein Apple Fair is celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the first Sebastopol Apple Fair held back in 1910 in downtown Sebastopol. There are many spectacular new things planned for "The Sweetest little Fair in Sonoma County" this year to celebrate the occasion.
You will find many new high quality artists and crafters, natural wellness products and local art groups offering wood carving and painting demonstrations. Stop by the Farm Trails Country Store where they will be selling local farmer/member products like apple juice, preserved goods and candies, plus souvenir Apple Fair shirts, hats, aprons and introducing a new Cookbook, "100 Gravenstein Apple Recipes for 100 years" filled with apple recipes from past Fairs and recipes from local cooks and chefs.
There will be plenty to eat with new food vendors offering awesome fresh food choices from around the world. Chase it down with local micro brews and fine wines in the new "Sips and Suds" Tent. This year there will be top notch entertainment on 2 stages like local youth groups The Fondettes and Fishbear, 2 time Grammy Winner Laurie Lewis, Cajun favorites Gator Beat and rockabilly stars, Big Sandy and his Fly Right Boys. Sit and enjoy the music while you eat on rows of picnic tables and hay bale seating or get up and boogie on the new dance floor.
There will be lot's to do for kids with an all new Hay Maze, Jumpy Barn, Mechanical Bull, old fashioned games and hands-on activities like Seed Planting and Apple Dumpling making as well as long time fair favorites like the Wagon and Train Rides and the Children's Museum, with their crazy fun with recycled materials.

Visitors young and old will enjoy Apple Fair historical displays from the West County Museum, a re-creation of the original 1910 Apple Fair Entrance Gate, Luther Burbank's car, the Early Engine & Tractor Club Exhibits, new Tractor display by Lampson Tractor and the "Life on the Farm" area where you get to meet and watch demonstrations of farm animals, llamas, birds and bees up close.
To celebrate the Gravenstein Apple, there will be historical apple displays from Sebastopol Apple Farmers, 9 vendors selling scrumptious Apple desserts, apple tastings, apple contests and the expanded Chefs Tent with demonstrations from local culinary greats like Chef John Ash, Carol Kozlowski-Every and Bruce Brieseke of Applewood Inn.
Tune into KSRO Saturday morning for "Garden Talk with Steve Garner" and the "Good Food Hour with Chef John Ash", broadcasting live from the Fair.
