Family Activities

With Many Thanks to Our Kids’ Area Sponsor

Pack up the family and take a bite out of the Gravenstein Apple Fair!

The Kids’ Area at the Apple Fair, sponsored by Exchange Bank, has superlative (free) offerings for old-fashioned family fun under the shade of large oak trees. Besides being entertained by giant bubbles, a hay maze, and stilt walkers, kids can get centered and creative with arts & crafts activities such as felting wool, making seed balls, and fashioning their own flower crowns. Charles M. Schulz Museum will be on site guiding hands-on, nature-related activities that encourage kids to explore and learn about the environment by making a water cycle bracelet, exploring animal and plant adaptation, excavating the past, and creating art with recycled materials, and more! And Copperfield’s Bookstore will offer story time at 11am & 2pm. There’s so much for children of all ages to see and do at the Apple Fair. Below is a comprehensive, fairwide listing of engaging family activities.

Near the Kid’s Area, parents will find a baby changing station and nursing area, thanks to the Diaper Wagon, Sonoma County’s sustainable diaper service.

Kids will love the tractor pedal pull game with the Young Farmers & Ranchers and the educational honeybee game with Sonoma County Beekeeper Association.

On the Life on the Farm stage children will learn about life on the farm, meet the animals, and see how to milk a goat and shear a sheep.

Live entertainment at the fair includes singalongs & roaming performers that will delight the little ones.

There are games for kids of all ages! We are pleased to welcome Farmer’s Guild Ag Games, sponsored by American Ag Credit, where families can challenge one another during wheelbarrow relays, potatoe sack races, and more. Don’t miss the Piglet Races & Chicken Poop Bingo! And cast your vote in the Ugly Produce Beauty Pageant, or better yet bring your own imperfectly perfect home-grown produce for your change to win $15 fair bucks!

For some more old fashioned fun, enter to win the fair’s popular pie eating contests & apple juggling tournament.

Families will enjoy taking a trip back in time with the Old Engines tractor display, sponsored by Hansel Subaru, showcasing vintage tractors and old antique farm tools.

There is truly something for everyone!

*IMPORTANT – Please stay with your children at all times.*
